Response to COVID-19 Crisis

Posted by Distribution International

The coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is changing every minute, and we are actively monitoring the latest developments to ensure we deliver exceptional service to our valued customers.
The safety of everyone in the DI Family - from our associates to our customers to our suppliers - is our top priority. We are currently focused on protecting the health of our employees and customers, enabling a remote workforce, and providing the level of support and quality you deserve.

Business Continuity

We have tested our Business Continuity Plans to assess our preparedness to respond to whatever the future holds. Based on those results, we believe we can keep our business running the same way we do today. You rely on us to provide the best service in the industry, and that is what we intend to do throughout this situation. We are in constant contact with our suppliers and are not experiencing or expecting any product disruptions. However, our transportation partners and other vendors determine their own policies and procedures for dealing with COVID-19. We will keep you up to date on changes in both product availability and delivery as this situation evolves. We will continue to work in lock step with them and are committed to notifying you of any major changes.

"Essential Business" Status

A few states where we operate, including California, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey have recently announced operating restrictions on businesses not considered “life sustaining” or “essential.” Many of our customers are businesses providing these essential, life-sustaining services – like power generation plants and refineries – and we deliver the materials they need to operate. They depend on us, and therefore we are an essential business as well and plan to remain open until otherwise notified by a state or local government.

Proactive Measures to Keep People Safe

DI is following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and is increasing the frequency of cleaning and hygiene in our branches. In addition to this constant emphasis on practicing good hygiene, we have had our associates cancel all non-essential travel, both within and between the U.S. and Canada. Instead, associates have been encouraged to reschedule meetings or conduct them virtually. DI will not be attending any large events or industry conferences, and any travel considered essential between the U.S. and Canada must be approved by a member of our Senior Leadership Team. All travel outside of North America has been cancelled.

Our Commitment to You

We will continue to monitor the regional and global impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19) and are committed to sharing any changes in our operational plans or product availability with you if they occur. Please know that we are steadfast in our commitment to exceptional customer service and truly value your partnership. If you have any questions, please reach out to your sales representative or a member of our customer service teams.

Sincerely,

Steve Margolius, Chief Executive Officer
